So…you may have noticed that we’re not doing a client-ed article today, and there’s a good reason for that…
Ally and I are busy planning our wedding around doing our design projects. We’ll be getting married on New Year’s Eve and we’re scrambling to get everything together in time.
We’re just having a small beach ceremony with a couple of friends present, so we apologize for not sending out invitations.
Unfortunately, Nascent is going to be a bit silent until after the New Year (and our Honeymoon). We apologize for the inconvenience, but we will return with our regularly scheduled programming on Jan. 6th 2012 (a new article for the designers out there).
Ah color – it’s like a fine wine or a cheap bottle of vodka.
It can either go right, or very wrong. We’ve already discussed the psychology of color theory, so now we can put it together.
We’ll focus on helping clients discover the right combination of colors for their design today.
This is for clients that might be interested in creating a color scheme before contacting a designer, or for some knowledge about why a designer chose those colors for that design. Read more →
A new office? A broken record?! YES!
We just did a Client-Ed. Article about upgrades, now it’s time to give a similar shout-out to designers and the like.
We just moved into a new office space (loving it), and life has been hectic, including one of our computers going PSHOTIOUATNI (That’s gibberish for Bleh).
BUT, we’re loving the new area, it’s slightly larger, more comfortable, and quiet (unless we’ve got some music playing).
It also taught us something about upgrading (anything). Sometimes you need it, sometimes you don’t. Read more →

If you haven’t ever seen the ABC show “Castle,” go watch a few episodes first. (The logo typography is awesome, too.)
We’re big fans of the prematurely cancelled series “Firefly” here at Nascent, so when we heard that Nathan Fillion was starring in Castle, we had to watch.
Surely enough the witty humor was there, and a few Firefly references popped up as well (in a Halloween episode, we were thrilled). One thing that jumped out for us about the show, though, was the process that each episode goes through when Castle helps solve a homicide.
It’s a long-shot parallel to design, but it rings true. Read on for the gooey details. Read more →
Has your web designer been driving up your long-distance phone bill late at night? Has your designer drooled over Papyrus for your new “logo”? What about creating a 980px layout and saying that “it should fit on the 960 Grid System”? Read more →
