Welcome! And thanks for browsing. Our names are Josh(ua) Johnson and Ally(sia) Mohr. We’re a married couple in Austin, TX. We design stuff.
Whether you’re a (potential) client or fellow designer, we have something for you to read.
Bridging the Gap
While we do have a portfolio on our site, that’s not why the site is here any more.
In dealing with clients and speaking with designers that are frustrated with their clients, we’ve realized that there is a rift between clients and designers.
That rift has a lot to do with misconceptions from clients, impatience from designers, and miscommunications from both parties.
So it’s our effort to help designers work more efficiently, and educate clients in the basics of design.
Client-Ed.
Not Special Ed, just Client Ed. Our weekly Client-Ed. column focuses on teaching clients the basics of design and the design process.
That’s not to say we want clients to go out and do their own designs. We’d be starving artists if we did that.
But we do want clients to have a better understanding of various processes that we use in the studio and some of the more common processes that other designers use, as well.
Fellow designers should also reference these articles to their own clients. Having understanding design clients makes for much smoother design projects – whether it’s web, screen, or print.
Productive Design
Under-Promise and Over-Deliver. That’s the formula to success with clients.
But sometimes designers have trouble just delivering in the first place. It happens. Life is hectic.
But there’s a solution. We’ve found this solution in the Life Hacking community. Figure out ways to be more productive in your work.
You can achieve more, work less, and spend time with your family, your friends, and enjoy your hobbies.
Is it easy? Not necessarily.
But by putting these two pieces of the puzzle together; educating clients and becoming more fluidly productive; you can create smooth relations, satisfy your clients, and enjoy your down-time even more.
